[The feed is showing Lea's back for a few minutes here, where he's sitting out on the roof of the Goldenrod department store. It's hard to tell what he's doing for a few minutes, until a bar of ice cream can be seen sticking out of his mouth when he turns his head. Quirking a smile at the cameramon of the evening, he pulls the treat out and motions for the pokemon to come closer.]

C'mere, Isa.

[Making a little flare, the fire type sets the gear down on the roof, showing up at the ledge, before hopping up there herself and seating next to her trainer. It almost seems like he's not going to do anything about the gear recording and just let it time out quietly, but after a few minutes of silence, he speaks out loud.]

So, anyone listening? Do you know why sunsets are mostly red?

Red is the color that goes the furthest, out of all the colors when you refract light. It's about the only thing I remember from school.

[Uh oh, Lea. You just mentioned two of Twilight's favorite things. The sun, and science.]

Because of the way light travels. The visual spectrum of light is split up into several colors, which you can see when a rainbow's formed or you use a prism. Of those colors, red is the one with the longest wavelength, so it lasts the longest as the sun sinks over the horizon.

At least, that's the simplest explanation.

Bingo! I usually just say "because red travels the furthest of all the colors", because most people understand it better. [She gets a big smile for the answer though.]

[She looks just a bit embarrassed at realizing that her "simple" explanation... wasn't, really. She manages to laugh at herself though.]

If the sun you know or the one here are anything like the one in my world, it's because the sun is at a lower angle when setting, and the space in which electromagnetic waves travel is increased. It's red because this is the color that has the longest wavelength, as opposed to blue which has a shorter wavelength-- which is why the sky is blue during the day.

You're close enough! When light refracts from the low setting, red is the color that goes the furthest and why it's just about all you see when the sun sets.

Yeah, it does look real nice. I've seen more sunsets than I can count and they still always look great.

Probably because the sun's yellow, and it goes the spectrum between that, orange, and red before the night begins.

Close! It's because of how the light is refracted from the sun setting.

It's because as the sun gets lower, the light gets put at a different angle, and since red is the color that goes the furthest and lasts the longest, that's why we see red for most of it!

[Grins and almost teasingly, picks up the gear to hover it over the edge. It's a fair ways down..]

For the most part. I just have to not lean too far forward, so don't worry!
